What is Rubberwood? Rubberwood comes from the Para rubber tree, Hevea Brasiliensis, which is plantation-grown and produces latex used in making rubber. Rubberwood is environmentally friendly! Once the tree reaches maturity (usually about 25–30 years old), it ceases producing latex. Rather than being scrapped or burned, those mature trees are harvested and cut into lumber, and new trees are planted. Rubberwood has consistent grain & coloring. It is a light-colored medium-density hardwood that is characterized by straight grain with an open texture. Like all hardwoods, it takes on stains easily. Rubberwood is a stable construction material. It can be used to make many products due to its minimal shrinkage in the kiln drying process. Some products include: cabinets, drawer boxes, floors, counter & table tops, furniture, kitchen accessories and more. 800.463.0660 | www.HardwareResources.com [ 354 ]
